Description

Shield

Vert, a dexter arm in armor erect couped at the wrist and spiked Or grasping a lightning flash fesswise Gules beneath seven fleurs-de-lis of the second chevronwise on a chief embattled Azure a branch of a fir tree Gold.

Crest

That for the regiments and separate battalions of the New Jersey Army National Guard:  On a wreath of the colors Or and Vert, a lions head erased Or collared four fusils Gules.

Motto

FORTUNE FAVORS THE BRAVE.

Symbolism

Shield

The fleur-de-lis represent the 50th Armors two World War I campaigns Meuse-Argonne and Alsace and five World War II campaigns Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, ArdennesAlsace and Central Europe.  The blue chief bearing the branch of fir tree symbolizes the Presidential Unit Citation (Army) awarded the 50th Armor for combat participation I the Huertgen Forest.  The mailed fist with the lightning flash symbolizes the speedy striking power of the unit and its historical ties with the 644th Tank Destroyer Battalion.  The embattled chief also represents the strong protection offered to New Jersey while green was the color used by Armor units during World War II.

Crest

The crest is that of the New Jersey Army National Guard.

Background
The coat of arms was approved on 16 November 1970.  It was revoked on 8 June 1971.

NOTE:  A distinctive unit insignia was never authorized for this Regiment.
